Marine & Home Wind Turbine Air X 400 Watt

The 400W (watt) Air X is the latest generation of small wind turbines for the home, ideal for a range of marine and residential applications, powering basic appliances such as a TV, radio and a few lights.

The Air-X wind turbine is available in the standard cast aluminium finish (grey metal) or in a white marine specification (white powder coated to improve protection from salt-water and the elements). Over 90,000 Air-X units are currently in use worldwide.

Unlike most other small wind turbines, the Air-X uses new microprocessor-based technology that results in increased performance, improved battery charging capability, greater reliability and the reduction of 'flutter' noise from the machine. Many wind turbines suffer from 'flutter' noise, which is caused when the blades exceed their maximum spin rate. The Air X automatically monitors wind speed and electronically slows the blades to prevent them from going into 'flutter', whilst maintaining the highest possible power output.

The Air-X includes it's own integral battery charge controller, so all you need is a battery / bank of batteries and your system is ready to go. The integrated Air X charge controller is a fully functioning MPPT controller, which means that it periodically reads the battery voltage and compares it to the voltage setting, only adding power if the necessary. When the battery is fully charged, the Air X will slow to a 'silent spin' mode, restarting automatically when it is necessary to start charging the battery again. We recommend a battery bank of at least 200Ah at 12V.

The Air-X starts to generate power at wind speeds of 8mph and over. For installations which require power generation at lower wind levels, we recommend the Air Breeze 160W wind turbine.
