What can I charge with my Sunpack?
You can charge almost any small electronic device with a voltage of 12V or less, such as mobile phones, iPods, GPS systems, cameras, etc. However, most laptops have a voltage around 19V, so you cannot charge them with a Sunpack.
Can I charge an iPhone or iPad with Sunpack?
Yes and no. The iPhone and iPad typically need a charging current higher than standard USB (5V, 500mA).
We have tested the 14W Sunpack panel with Apple devices and they will charge - the 7W Sunpack is not large enough.
The standard adapters included with the Sunpack do not include a USB / Apple adapter, although they are widely sold on the High Street for £5-10.
The easiest adapter to use is a standard in car adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket.
How long does it take to charge my electronic devices?
How do I charge my electronic device?
The Sunpack uses a standard socket for a car cigarette lighter, so you can use a cigarette lighter adapted to your specific electronic device. Included with the Sunpack you receive a kit of adapters allowing you to charge most of the common mobile phones, MP3 players and GPS units. If the right adapter is not in this kit, you can use an off-the-shelf adapter from your local electronics shop.
Do temperature and climate affect the Sunpack?
The Sunpack is weather resistant (normal outdoor use) but cannot be submerged in water or be in constant contact with humidity. The warranty temperature operating range is from -20 to +60°C. As with all solar panels, the performance of the Sunpack is related to the amount of direct sunshine it receives – the more the better! For more details of the effect of weather on solar panels, please read our guide Effect of Weather on Solar Energy Production.
How do I look after my Sunpack?
The solar panel requires practically no maintenance. Simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth or with a mild soap solution to clean the panel. Do not use any abrasive cleaner or solvent as this would damage the panel.
How do I attach it?
The Sunpack is delivered with 2 cords that you can use to attach the product thanks to the 4 grommets. The Sunpack can be attached to a back pack or oriented to the sun, in locations that will receive good direct sunlight throughout the day. For maximum charging performance, position the product to face the noon time sun.
If I need more power can I connect several chargers together? How?
Yes, you can connect several Sunpacks in parallel via the cigarette lighter male adaptor that you can easily pull out of its socket in the tube of the charger. For example you can connect 4 Sunpacks 7W or 2 Sunpacks 14W.
